A New Era of Collaboration Begins at RESO

By Arianna Marino | October 30, 2024

The past year saw the real estate industry under intense scrutiny, with lawsuits around data access, transparency, and competition capturing headlines. These cases slowed momentum, as many MLSs and PropTech companies took a “wait-and-see” approach.

Legal uncertainties over data sharing, listing rules, and industry practices left companies cautious about investing in new technologies or exploring partnerships. While the industry still has work to do to move past this, you wouldn’t have been able to tell at last week’s RESO Fall Conference in Frisco, Texas.

A Shift Back to Collaboration

Last week, RESO buzzed with excitement and enthusiasm. Everyone was focused on tackling the industry’s most pressing technology problems and emerging from the six-month “deep freeze.”

The event highlighted the renewed commitment to collaboration and technological advancement in real estate. RESO’s focus on transparency, interoperability, and setting new data standards pushed the attendees to think about the future again.

The meetings reflected a shift, with attendees from MLSs and tech companies wanting to explore joint ventures, data-sharing initiatives, and new partnerships with other industry players.

Several speakers emphasized how these collaborations could improve the consumer experience by giving agents, brokers, and consumers more accurate, accessible, and actionable information.

It was a breath of fresh air for many to get back to conversations about the future and move beyond the stress and uncertainty of the past.

MLSPropTech.com at RESO

RESO has always been a staple conference for us, and this year, we had a lot going on. With the launch of the MLSPropTech.com brand, we were proud to host the MLSPropTech.com Innovation Showcase. The Innovation Showcase highlighted some of the industry’s most forward-thinking brands and was a great place for conference attendees to network and engage in conversations about data and technology. It was also the perfect stage to introduce MLSPropTech.com to the industry.

Our vision for MLSPropTech.com was to create a one-stop shop for industry intelligence, where industry stakeholders can make sense of an increasingly complex and ever-changing business environment. We aimed to provide a tool where people could learn, stay up-to-date on trends, find partners, and explore the innovative solutions shaping the future of real estate.

Looking Forward

The conference concluded with a clear call to action: keep pushing for transparency, interoperability, and innovation.

In the aftermath of legal battles and uncertainty, RESO is helping the industry refocus on what matters most: creating a real estate environment that benefits all players and most importantly, the consumers.
